OMG! If you have not tried Lion Brand’s Scarfie yarn you must…immediately! It is so soft, you will love, I MEAN LOVE, crocheting with it!
I am not one for bulky weight yarns. I don’t know if it is the menopause issues or what but I shy away from yarn weights #5 and above. But the Scarfie Yarn is warm yet not bulky. It is so soft you will want to run your fingers and toes over and over your project when you’re done.
The other awesome thing I LOVE about Scarfie is the self-striping ombre effect that is gradual from one gorgeous hue to the next. My favorite color is the Cream/Taupe used in the pattern below.
I wanted to create a cowl pattern with Scarfie that would be versatile (hence the name!) and that could have different looks. I hope you enjoy this pattern and have fun coming up with different ways to wear it!

Yarn: 1 Skein (312 Yards) Lion Brand Scarfie (Cream/Taupe)
Size: 10”L x 19”W
Gauge: 10 HDC Rows = 10 Inches
• CH – Chain
• HDC – Half Double Crochet
• RND – Round
• SC – Single Crochet
• SK – Skip
• SM – Stitch Marker
• SS – Slip Stitch
• ST – Stitch(es)
• Cowl is worked in continuous rounds without a CH 1 at beginning of each row with the exception of RND 3.
• Please use a stitch marker (SM) to mark the beginning of each row.
• Chain 1 on RND 3 does not count as a stitch.
RND 1: HDC in 2nd CH from hook & in each CH across. Join together with a SS making sure to not twist chain. (100)
RND 2: SK 1st ST. 2 HDC in next ST. *SK next ST. 2 HDC in next ST.* Repeat from * to * around. SS in top of 1st HDC. (100)
RND 3: CH 1. 2 HDC in 1st SK ST space from previous RND. Put SM in 1st HDC made. *SK next ST. 2 HDC in next SK ST space.* Repeat from * to * around. (100)
RND 4: 2 HDC in 1st SK ST space from previous RND. Put SM in 1st HDC made. *SK next ST. 2 HDC in next SK ST space.* Repeat from * to * around. (100)
RND 5 – 30: (Or until Scarf is 10”) Repeat RND 4. (100)
1 SC in each of next 3 ST. SS in each of next 3 ST.
