The Sue Renee Lapghan, named after my sister, is easily made using the Linen Stitch & Vanna’s Choice Yarn in Linen & Cranberry.  I love how Vanna’s Choice works up with this stitch…beautiful!

If you want to make your lapghan wider & taller, make your starting chain longer (even number of chains).  To make it taller, add equal amount of extra rows between rows 36 – 56 & 77 – 97.  You will want to end your lapghan on an even number row so that your border is worked on the right side.

SKILL LEVEL:  Easy

GAUGE:       14 Stitches x 12 Rows = 4”

HOOK:          K/6.5 mm

YARN:           Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Linen (7 Skeins) & Cranberry (3 Skeins)

SIZE:              41” Wide x 47” Tall

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • CC: Contrast Color
  • CH:     Chain
  • MC: Main Color
  • SC:     Single Crochet
  • SK:      Skip
  • SP: Space
  • SL ST: Stitch

 NOTES:

  • The CH 1 at beginning of rows DOES count as a stitch.
  • When changing between MC & CC, change color in last ST of the row.
  • Finishing Border: Because of the stitch pattern, you can’t SC in every stitch around; it will look crowded.
    • Finishing Border: If you prefer square corners instead of round/square when finishing last 2 rows, you can [SC, CH 1, SC] in each corner instead of 2 SC.
    • CC = Cranberry
    • MC = Linen

SPECIAL STITCHES:

  • Linen Stitch – This pattern uses the Linen Stitch. It is an easy, beautiful crochet stitch that uses simple single crochets & chain stitches.
